Clickbank Woes

One of my little niche sites is based on the Niche Profit Classroom.  As I mentioned on my “about” page, it was that program that really made the light bulb go off regarding hyper niche marketing.

NPC is a training program, but it also provides members with two niche topics per month, complete with research, an ebook to sell as an info product, an auto responder series, and a set of articles to start off your site.

Anyway, the first site that I built on the model has been making money in several ways, but primarily through affiliate commissions on physical products and sales of my own ebook.  I did have Adsense on it for a little while, but the CPC just wasn’t high

Try AWeber’s Autoresponders for
I’ve really been focusing on building up the list and monetizing it.  Adding the auto fade I that Aweber provides has made an exponential difference.  I can’t even tell you the percentage of increase because it was just pathetic before.

What my site has going for it over all the other NPC sites in the same niche is that I designed a unique theme and it looks nice.  In some industries, it may not make a difference, but I personally feel that aesthetics do matter in this particular niche.

I think it has also helped me attract affiliates.  I think I have a fairly decent number in relation to others in this niche and I’m not offering the highest split on Clickbank, so I know that’s not it.  I think it’s just because my site looks good, I provide affiliate banners and copy, and people want to promote it over others.  My site looks substantial and real compared to the others.

The downside to this particular niche is that spending in it overall has just tanked in this sucky economy.   Word to the wise.  If you want to recession proof your online income, make sure you have sites that target areas where people will be spending money regardless.

So to the point, I haven’t been getting notification of Clickbank sales.  This product is on its own account and I don’t look at it every day, usually just once a month.

I have a list set specifically for buyers of this product.  When they order through Clickbank, they are simultaneously added to the buyer list on Aweber.

Well I happened to notice that I had more subscribers to this list . . . and that was the only way I knew that I had made more sales.  Which is a little annoying.  I do have a notification email set for the account, but it obviously isn’t working. Sad smile
